A blind man was struck and killed by a SEPTA train.

CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- A blind man was struck and killed by a train after police say he fell from a Center City platform.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday along SEPTA's Broad Street Line at Broad and Vine streets.

Police say the 53-year-old stumbled, hit a pole, and fell onto the tracks.

He was struck by a southbound SEPTA train and pronounced dead at the scene.

SEPTA service was interrupted for a time as police investigated.
