DENHAM SPRINGS, La. -- A news photographer in Louisiana made headlines Wednesday morning after he rescued a pregnant woman from a burning car.

WBRZ photographer Patrick Perry and reporter Brittany Weiss were on their way to cover a story when they saw the 21-year-old woman lose control of her car on a highway in Livingston Parish.

Her vehicle went off the road, crashed into trees along the road and caught fire. Perry pulled over and rushed out of his news vehicle to save her. Weiss grabbed a camera and recorded the whole thing.

"I started hearing a voice, a very soft voice, very soft. She said, 'I'm over here! I'm over here!'" Perry said.

The woman managed to push herself from the driver side to the passenger side so that Perry could get her out.

A Good Samaritan stopped to help and they called 911. Paramedics arrived and took the woman to the hospital, where her condition stabilized.

"Feel a little different, you know. We normally go out and cover stories like this here and never be a part of the story," Perry said. "We're human first, you know. Tell the story second."

That woman is seven and a half months pregnant. Her cousin said the baby is also OK.
