Pop-up run supports SEPTA officer injured in Holmesburg hit-and-run

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Dozens of runners showed up Sunday for a pop-up run through the Holmesburg section of Philadelphia.

Their message: "Get Well, SEPTA Officer Gary Miller."

"I think my husband would do the same thing for anybody," said Clara Alicea, wife. "This is love. This is amazing love. Somebody that they don't even know."

Police are seeking the public's help in locating the driver of this vehicle after a SEPTA police officer was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Holmesburg.

Police say the 13-year vet was running in Holmesburg on May 22 when a car came barreling from behind, striking Miller. He was left on the side of the road with severe injuries.

Miller underwent multiple surgeries over the last week, and was recently moved to the ICU.

"That's where it happened. That's where the collision and everything went down, and the hospital is right up here," said runner Alex Rodriguez when asked about the significance of the starting and ending points of the run.

"We've got a bunch of get well cards and gifts for Officer Miller, and we're going to drop them off," said Jon Lyon, runner.

Police are seeking the public's help in locating the driver of this vehicle after a SEPTA police officer was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Holmesburg.

Surveillance cameras caught the dark-colored Saturn speeding off with a shattered windshield and front-end damage.

But, so far, there have been no arrests.

"Right now I don't think I have words to tell him. I just pray on it, and I just try to forgive him," said Alicea when asked what she would say to the driver of the vehicle that struck her husband. "I still have my husband, thank God, even though he didn't stop."
