Alex Johnson and Brey Dorsett are two professional basketball players who met at a pro-am tournament in college. Years later, the couple is still very much in love with each other and the sport of basketball. So when the former North Carolina State point guard knew he wanted to propose, he knew a way that would score him big romantic points.

In the video above, Johnson and Dorsett are going against each other in a one-on-one game. When Johnson is driving towards the rim, he trips and falls to the ground, clutching his leg in what appears to be a surge of pain.

As Johnson lies on the ground, Dorsett is standing above, clutching her hands to her face in horror as her boyfriend appears to be seriously injured. But then Johnson weakly rises up on one knee in front of Doresst with a ringbox in his hand. A raucous roar erupts from the couple's friends and fans watching nearby, and Dorsett happily says yes.

Johnson's proposal is reminiscent of the pickup basketball game between Monica and Quincy in the seminal sports romance Love and Basketball.

Johnson earned a lot of praiseworthy points on social media for his slam dunk proposal.

Johnson thanked all of his friends and fans for their support of his baller romantic gesture.
