GLASSBORO, N.J. (WPVI) -- Nine Rowan University students are facing charges after investigators say they scammed a 7-Eleven to the tune of $35,000.

The scheme started with one student who worked at the store.

Police say the 21-year-old credited fellow students' university-sponsored debit cards as refunds for items they never purchased.

As a result of the student's alleged actions, police say, eight of his friends are now charged with theft.
