ESPN reports LeSean McCoy may be headed to Buffalo.

PHILADLEPHIA (WPVI) -- The Philadelphia Eagles will trade running back LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for linebacker Kiko Alonso, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The trade is expected to be made official next week.

Schefter tweeted Tuesday evening, "Filed to ESPN: Bills have notified LB Kiko Alonso he is going to be traded to Philadelphia for RB LeSean McCoy. Trade official next week."

"So LeSean McCoy is going to be a Buffalo Bill. And Kiko Alonso will be reunited with former Oregon HC Chip Kelly," Schefter tweeted.

Sports agent Drew Rosenhaus says there have been discussions, but nothing has been finalized.

"I just spoke with the Eagles organization and there is no trade for LeSean at this time. There have been discussions but nothing finalized," Rosenhaus tweeted.

Action News Sports Director Ducis Rodgers explains that trades cannot be finalized until the NFL league year begins at 4:00 p.m. on March 10th.

A source tells Ducis that McCoy was caught off-guard by the news of the trade and he's "not happy."

Another source says there "are a lot of moving parts to the potential trade".

On SportsCenter, Shefter said this deal will be completed pending physicals for both players.

"Shady" was drafted by the Eagles in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft.

He has the most the rushing yards in the NFL with 6,155.

Alonso was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of the University of Oregon.

Alonso will be the ninth Oregon player on the Eagles roster. All nine played under Chip Kelly at some point with the Ducks.

He had 159 tackles in 2013 on the Bills, but was out for the 2014 season with a torn ACL.

But the person at the heart of Shady possibly leaving the Birds appears to be head coach Chip Kelly.

Speaking at the Katz Jewish community center in Cherry Hill Tuesday night, Kelly inspired the crowd and said he was grateful for his job.

"It's really humbling when you get to be the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles; it is the best job in the world," Kelly said.

Kelly, however, had nothing to say in regards to McCoy being traded to the Bills.

Earlier in the day, ESPN's Adam Caplan, citing a league source, said the Eagles will release veteran outside linebacker Trent Cole.

Caplan tweeted Tuesday afternoon, both sides could not agree on a revised contract.

Cole, according to Caplan, is expected to be released by Wednesday afternoon.

The 2-time Pro Bowler was drafted by the Birds in 2005.

In 2012, Cole signed a four-year contract extension.

Also on Tuesday, the Eagles released starting cornerback Cary Williams.

The reported McCoy trade, plus the releases of Cole and Williams, will shed $31.75 million from the Eagles' salary cap, ESPN reports.
