Police have charged a suspect with slashing the throats of a mother and her teen son in Camden.

CAMDEN, N.J. (WPVI) -- Police have charged a suspect with slashing the throats of a mother and her teen son in Camden.

The incident happened around 4:45 a.m. Saturday on the 2900 block of Yorkship Road.

30-year-old Jose Flores has been charged with two counts of attempted murder.

Police say Flores used a box cutter to cut the throat of a 37-year-old woman.

The victim's 19-year-old son heard his mother's cries for help and tried to intervene.

That's when police say Flores slashed the teen's throat.

Both victims were taken to Cooper University Hospital.

The mother is listed in critical but stable condition while her son is listed in stable condition.

Police have not yet released a motive for the attack.
